The Correction That Came From Outside
A reader was right and the record was not

Correction
A dated entry was wrong by nine days. The person who noticed had no way to edit it and wrote in anyway, which is the only reason it was fixed.
What Was Wrong
An entry recorded a batch as held for nine days. It was held for four. The nine came from a note that counted the wrong end of the hold.
How It Was Found
A reader who had the shipping confirmation in their own inbox noticed the dates did not reconcile, and said so. They were not asking for anything.
What Happened Next
The entry was corrected and the correction was noted in the entry rather than hidden by it. The original number is still readable there.
An archive that silently repairs itself gives its readers no way to tell whether anything else is wrong.
“Your dates do not agree with my shipping email. One of us is wrong and I do not think it is me.”
The reader was right. The useful part is not that the archive fixed it, but that someone outside the studio could check it at all.
