Quiet morning. Two people, one task each, no meetings — the configuration that produces most of what gets finished here and almost none of what gets talked about.

The box of rejected versions has been moved after all, about two metres, for reasons nobody could explain afterwards.

Current Inspiration

Nothing new this week, which is worth writing down rather than covering over. The same book is still open at the same page. Inspiration is not a weekly resupply and pretending otherwise produces the kind of work that looks like a mood board.

Small Observation

A good session sounds like long silences with short bursts of movement. A bad one sounds continuous — chairs, drawers, the kettle, conversation that is technically about the work.

The continuous sound is the sound of avoiding a decision. It has been audible from the corridor twice this month, both times on days when a specification was waiting to be rewritten.

Nobody has ever fixed this by being told about it. It seems to only be fixable by noticing it yourself, ideally before somebody walks past.
