The First Entry in Your Name

Somewhere in this archive there is now a line with your name on it, and a date that will not move.
It is a small thing to look at. A number, a date, a name. It does not feel like much on the day it is written.
But it is the first line of a record that is meant to outlast the reason it was started, and records behave differently from purchases. A purchase closes. A record stays open.
What that means practically is this: you are not the end of this object's history. You are a section of it. The piece arrived with a past attached, and it will leave with your part of it included, whether or not you ever add anything else deliberately.
We mention this not to make the moment heavier than it is, but because most people are never told. Things are usually sold as if the transaction were the conclusion.
Here it is the entry.
Take your time with it. The record is not going anywhere, and neither is the date.
