The words this archive uses, defined the way it actually uses them.
Archive NumberRecord field
The permanent identifier a piece receives when it enters the record. Issued once, never reissued, and never reused if a piece is withdrawn.
Archive ScoreComputed value
A number derived from verified ownership data. It is calculated, never written, which is why no entry in this archive holds a copy of it.
BatchProduction unit
One run of a single piece made under one set of conditions. Two identical pieces from different batches are different records.
CollectionGrouping
A set of records that only makes sense held together, assembled by someone who signed the decision. Not a season and not a shop category.
ConditionRecord field
What is true of an object now. Recorded separately from specification, which describes what was made once.
Dead StockMaterial status
Material held long enough that its original run is finished and cannot be reordered. Recorded as a limit, not as a virtue.
GSMMeasurement
Grams per square metre — the weight of a cloth. Recorded to the number, never as heavy or light.
PermanencePrinciple
The rule that what is written stays written, including the parts that reflect badly on the archive. Corrections go beside the original, never over it.
ProvenanceRecord field
The chain of custody of an object, from the run it was made in to whoever holds it now.
RegistrySystem
The separate record of individual objects and who holds them. A registry record is a unit, not an article.
Sealed EntryStatus
A record that exists and is dated but whose contents are held outside the published record until a fixed date.
UndyedMaterial
Cloth left in the colour it finished weaving in. The default of this archive, and originally a constraint rather than a position.
